Adirondacks

My first trip to the Adirondacks, with Anna and a couple of our friends. A truly beautiful place.

The hike up to Ampersand Mountain took us out. I may or may not have sold it to the group as a quick morning hike. The line on the map is mostly straight, not many switchbacks, only a mile and a half or so, can’t be that bad, right?

Nope! Welcome to the Adirondacks. StairMaster of Doom. StairMaster through an active river. Stairs (“stairs”) straight up a mountainside, stairs that had become a stream because that’s what happens when you cut a path straight up a mountainside with no switchbacks, stairs that gave you no breaks, no feeling that you might be approaching the summit, no hope at all, just stairs. And my friends didn’t pack water, based on my assurances that it would be a “quick morning hike.”

Oops!

But it was a very nice view at the top.

I think I overdid it with the editing on these. Maybe I was in some kind of funk after coming back to the city and took out my frustration on the Clarity slider. That’s OK.
