Germany & Czech Republic

This was kind of a fact-finding mission for some family history research I’d been doing. Did I find many facts? No, but I met some very nice people from Ivanovice na Hané, the town where my family lived in Czechia (Austria-Hungary at the time).

I also finally got to visit Weimar, of Republic fame, which is a gorgeous town. I stayed in the spare room at the local Lutheran priests’ house, also known as the Herder House, because it was once the home of Johann Gottfried Herder. Staying in a cozy loft once occupied by a famous philosopher, in a snowy German town with a Christmas market? Yes, I’d recommend that.
